A brief review of Kadai Fire Bowl

After trying out different BBQs and smokers, like a pellet smoker, a few users wanted to keep things simple and cook over a wood fire.

They found the Kadai Indian Fire Bowl after doing some research. The seller suggested putting sand in the bottom to protect the bowl, and they did this along with a sheet of foil.

They asked the nearby stove shop if they could buy logs and luckily got a barrow bag of silver birch for £35.

To start the Kadai, you can use a flamer, a bit of charcoal, and some twigs from the garden hedge. This makes lighting the logs very easy. The users started with three logs and added more as needed based on how long they were cooking.

Their first try was hanging a chicken over the grill. They got the idea from Marcus at Country Wood Smoke, who cooked a leg of lamb the same way. The chicken turned out really nice and juicy, as it usually does when cooked outside.

After that, they made a casserole using the Dutch oven, chili using the cooking bowl, and bought a hacienda swing grill to make spatchcock chicken, harissa lamb, and shawarma cauliflower.

Overall, the Kadai is a great piece of equipment, and it is fun to cook on. When it is cooler, you will still prefer using a BBQ with a lid to keep the heat, but you will definitely use the Kadai a lot.
